Marc Dirrenberger
Founder & Technical Director
After 15+ years in IT and 5 years specialising in cybersecurity, I have learned that security gaps often appear in the places we least expect. Many well-meaning IT teams simply are not trained to spot every vulnerability, and that is not a criticism, it is the nature of an ever-evolving threat landscape.
Blue Icon was born from a simple moment of honesty: a friend in the MSP world admitted his own tech team could not handle a client's security needs and asked if I could step in. That first contract became the foundation for everything Blue Icon does today.
My focus is on seeing the full picture: understanding where systems connect, where they are exposed, and how to strengthen them before problems arise. Rather than routing you through layers of support, I work directly with clients so nothing gets lost in translation.
I hold the CISSP certification, the globally recognised gold standard in cybersecurity. It is a credential trusted by defence, finance, and enterprise security teams worldwide, and it reflects the rigorous, security-first approach I bring to every engagement.
Many of my clients are growing businesses in London who have hit a familiar wall: they are pitching for larger contracts, but prospects want to see proper security credentials first. I help them get there, not just ticking boxes, but building the foundations that let them compete and win.
My approach is simple: relationships first, honest advice, no hidden agendas. I am vendor-agnostic because I have seen too many MSPs turn into licence mills, pushing subscriptions for the commission rather than the client's benefit. I care about privacy and I favour open-source thinking wherever it makes sense. If there is a better, leaner solution, I will tell you.
Outside of work, you will find me at the boxing gym, behind the wheel of something fast, or deep into a Total War campaign. Chelsea matchdays remain non-negotiable. I have always been drawn to strategy, speed, and systems, whether that is on screen, on the road, or protecting client networks.
